Cutting and preparation of the cutlery roll
If you are ready with all the materials needed it’s time to download the free cutlery roll .
Next, use the pattern to cut the pattern once into oilcloth, outer fabric and volume fleece. You also need two strips of outer fabric measuring 35 cm x 4 cm. These can be cut from any fabric or replaced with bias tape. You also need two strips of oilcloth with dimensions 40 cm x 4 cm.
Here is an overview:
- 1 x pattern made of oilcloth
- 1 x pattern made from outer fabric
- 1 x cut part made of volume fleece
- 2 x strips of outer fabric measuring 35 cm x 6 cm
- 2 x strips of any fabric in the dimensions 39 cm x 6 cm
Sew the cutlery roll yourself
Iron the volume fleece onto the left side of the outer fabric, then place the outer fabric and oilcloth right sides together and stitch the opposite short sides close to the edges. Then turn the entire piece.
Next, overcast the open outer edges with a zigzag stitch, thereby gathering them together.
Now you can fold the lower short edge 13 cm upwards (the oilcloth is on the inside) and fix it on the sides with fabric clips.
You can now clean both open edges (including the folded-in areas) with the tape cut or bias tape. Place the ribbon around the open edge, right sides together.
The beginning and end are knocked in so that the upper edge is also overcast. Stitch everything tight.
When you’re done, move on to the next step: divide the lower bag into compartments with a few quilted seams.
This is how the sewing piece should now look like:
Now fold the top flap in by 7 cm and use the awl to pierce holes for press studs on both edges so that the you can open the top flap.
Then use the snap pliers to attach the snaps.
Now you can quilt the tape to roll it up in the middle of one of the basted tape sides.
Also provide it with snaps so that it can be wraped around the roll and closed once.
Now you are done!
