Sun, sea and pom-poms… the perfect combination! We’ll show you how to make a light beach poncho out of colorful fabric and a pom-pom border, so you can face the summer in style!
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- 2 metres of light fabric
- 6 metres of pom-pom border
- Needles
- Sewing Machine
- Cutlery
- Scissors
- Bowl (for tracing the collar)
Fabric consumption depends on your body size and how long you want your poncho to be.
SO LET’S GET STARTED!
STEP 1
Fold the fabric once in the middle. Now draw a semicircle with a bowl in the middle of the centre fold, which you then cut out. Of course it’s also possible for you to create a v-neck instead. Serge the fabric and then make a hem at the neck. If you don’t have an overlock machine, go straight for the hem. We counted a 1 cm seam allowance.
STEP 2
Fold the fabric lengthways so that only half the neck becomes visible. Take your marking tool and trace a generous arc. Provide a wide seam allowance. Cut.
STEP 3
Now take the pom-pom border and place it all around the fabric edges of the poncho, before finally sewing it together the whole way around.
It’s as simple as that!
