Its Fashion Revolution this week and makerist would like to show its support in this very important week. The revolution starts in your wardrobe! Take a closer look at your clothes tags and ask the producer #WhoMadeMyClothes? Fashion Revolution are asking us this week (and always!) to fight for greater transparency in the supply chain 🔗Who made your clothes? What are the conditions they’re working in like? Are they being paid a fair wage? At Makerist, we support the movement to #CreateMoreBuyLess ♻️for more sustainability in fashion. Make your own clothes and love them for a long time! Join the #fashionrevolution all this week to find out more about this movement! 🙌 Take a look at the makerist patterns that you can make instead of buying fast fashion and get some inspiration!
Tops
On our search for popular fast fashion trends, we found many wrap top versions like the ones from Misguided and Topshop. If you are into this style we have found two perfect Makerist wrap top options for you! The first one is the Walter Wrap top by Sewing Machina and the second is the Virgo wrap by Oui Patterns. The cut is tight and stops right at the hips level for a sporty, ballet-inspired look. The patterns were made to be as simple as possible to sew! Wear it on top of a sleeveless dress, or with a high waisted skirt or pair of jeans.
T-Shirts
Bigger is better! We found many basic tees with some added drama! We love the look of an oversized simple tee and we found many tees online like this H&M number. We have a perfect pattern for you by one of our brand new designers! The Tyra Tee is a structured boxy t-shirt with an intentionally oversized fit, dropped shoulders, and subtle waist shaping for a cool, relaxed look. The neckline is finished with ribbing. We recommend knit fabrics with body, such as cotton jersey and Ponte.
Shoulder Pad Shirts
Pad it up! We saw a load of padded tees online, it seems to be part of the fashion craze this season. We have two awesome padded patterns almost identical to all the ones we found online. The Claudia Tank by Just patterns and the Padded shirt by Make it yours patterns. Both have a relaxed fit and padded shoulders to create a trendy silhouette reminiscent of the 80s’. The crew necks are finished with ribbing but self-fabric can also be used.
Blouses
We saw many different blouses this season. We found many dramatic blouses with ruffled sleeves, and hip ties and we found the perfect patterns of the Screwdriver women’s wrap top by Our Lady of Leisure.
If you are going for a for a straight blouse with a V-Neck then the Prague blouse by Orageuse would look fabulous.
Boilersuits
Okay, so we absolutely LOVE boiler suits! We have two perfect boilersuit patterns that are so similar to the Topshop and ASOS ones! First up is the popular Jean-Paul boilersuit pattern by Ready to sew and the other is the Gimlet Pattern by Our Lady Of Leisure Patterns. Both of these are high-fashion utility wear! Boilersuits are so in right now, and with either of these patterns, you can put your own spin on the catwalk style.
Tailored Jackets and blazers
Who doesn’t love a classy looking tailored jacket or blazer? If you want an easy blazer pattern with no buttons like the Zara one above then the Joe Blazer would work well. If you would like a double-breasted blazer, with a straight, loose cut or a more fitted cut then either the Amsterdam blazer or Naelle jacket would look great!
Summer Dresses
With summer just around the corner, we had a look around for dresses online and we found two from ASOS and Shien. One is a stunning summer dress which is similar to the Zoe Ruffle dress by The Aware Collection. We also LOVE pinafore dresses! We have the perfect pattern for you which is the pinafore pattern by Fieldwork patterns!
