Together we will learn how to sew a baby rattle cube and make this great baby toy ourselves which is a very quick and easy DIY project! This could be the perfect gift for any occasion.
You don’t need a lot of materials for the rattle cube, you may already have some leftover fabrics to use with them anyway.
We used up a few scraps of leftover fabric from our warehouse for this project. Because the cube is not so big we could recommend using fabrics with small illustrations.

– rattle on loading
– A piece of paper or cardboard measuring 10 x 10 cm for a template

– iron and ironing board
DIY instructions
Cut a piece of cardboard measuring 10 x 10 cm. Use it as a template to cut six pieces of cotton fabric. Feel free to do this with a rotary cutter and cutting mat. If necessary, normal fabric scissors will do the job.
Place two pieces of the fabrics right sides together. Secure it to one side with fabric clips.
Sew the two fabrics to the pinned edge with a normal straight stitch with a 0.5 cm seam allowance.
Sew a total of four pieces of fabric together in this way.
Then sew on both sides of the cube as shown above.
Now you can sew the sides together to create the shape of the cube.
Sew the last edge almost shut, but leave a turning opening that is at least as big as your rattle.
Turn the cube inside out through the opening. Then fill it with polyfill and add the rattle.
Then use a blind stitch to close the opening by hand.
You can simply knot the end of the thread and then stick it across the cube from the inside and cut off the end on the outside.
And voila you have now finished the rattle cube!
