This week in our Designer Spotlight we would like to introduce you to one of our passionate and creative designers and their shop which is featured on Makerist! This week, we spoke to Manja of Dreiems who makes a beautiful variety of patterns, from women’s to children’s patterns. We spoke about her journey as a pattern designer, why she chose Makerist, and what gets her out of her creative slump!
1. What made you want to become a pattern designer?
I have always wanted to do something creative. When I started sewing, there were very few ebooks. Many were not suitable for beginners. That was my motivation 🙂
2. Where do you get your inspiration from?
My inspiration is everyday life. Often I just try something out and from it a new pattern emerges. But I also get my inspiration from fashion from magazines and shops!
3. What is your favourite pattern and why?
I really love all of my patterns. But what I like best is the Moodie pattern or the Tenna trousers. (Although these are currently only available in German!)
4. When you are experiencing a creative block, how do you get back into the spirit?
I actually find breaks helpful, though I haven’t had a real low yet. After one week at the most I am drawn back to the sewing machine again.
